Out of all of the seasons in the year autumn is my absolute favorite, not only because of my birthday and sweet sweet goodies, but because of the gorgeous fall foliage I have the opportunity to witness every year in Upstate NY and NE.
On my way back to school one weekend (Columbus Day), I stopped at the Grafton Peace Pagoda to learn about Buddha’s journey and beliefs. It was really such an amazing place, I can’t wait to go back and take part in an actual prayer that happens everyday 530-630 am/pm.
As part of MCLA’s Hardman Lecture Series, Jeff Corwin had the honor of being our notable speaker. I got to see this man twice in one day. The first time at a student Q&A where I learned a lot about his family and himself as well as what he things college students with a biology degree should do. Two hours later he spoke to the community, faculty and staff ย more about extinction rates and endangered species.
On October 21st the birthday train came to town….my first cold stone cake and a free Mexican meal at Desperado’s. It was definitely the highlight of the month.
My first performance as an MCLA cheerleader happened at Midnight Madness where each student body year wore a different color and competed to be the loudest; in which case the sophomores won ๐
An annual trip to Thacher Park was much needed during a weekend home. The chilly weather didn’t stop my walk through natural caves and trails.
While trekking along my healthy lifestyle path that I recently adopted in the summer, I stumbled across various fitness related shirts. My brother had the duty of getting this one for my birthday. Drop it like a squat!
SHADOW’S FIRST HALLOWEEN.
Due to the lack of last minute costumes at Walmart, the little guy had no choice but to put together two perfect outfits the night of Halloween. My pretty butterfly and pink football player! ๐
On the same night of Halloween, I was eager to take a one night trip home for free tickets to Pretty Lights, a techno/DJ group who performed with a live band this year. Maybe this concert will become a tradition after seeing it two years in a row already. The music was great and the atmosphere was even wilder!
Even though November hit, Halloween fell on a Thursday night, which means two outfits were crucial to have for Friday and Saturday. On opposite sides of the spectrum we have Greek Goddess Aphrodite turn jail bird/robber girl. Whatever works, right?
By ending Halloweekend and realizing that October is over, I took a second to look up at the surrounding nature on this fine Sunday. The colors of this tree is amazing to me and is also one of the last pretty trees of fall.
So, when is Thanksgiving??
