Growing up in a small town you eventually find yourself on your own. Whether its with your thoughts, music, a best bud (then I guess your not alone), or maybe just with pen and paper. From what I’ve come to realize and witness through my learning experiences is that there is a fine line between real people and fake.

One day I was asked what a fake person meant, and I replied with “A person who can’t be true to others, someone with trust issues maybe or someone who has to lie”. I then proceeded to explain that a real person is “A person that does not have to lie, can back up a statement with various support, can let things go, not spread rumors, etc.”

You come to realize that real people are rare.. but when you do find a true person, you should be yourself in return and try to keep a relationship with that person. You may also go on in life believing that your friends are your backbone and nothing will come between that, until one behavior overrules another.. There is also people that will come into your life and give you the immediate o.k. to open up to them and tell them everything and anything. Which is a great thing. But the moral of the story is that its fine to find the good in people but once they put you down, or show signs of utter failure in their life, you may need to find the strength to let go.

An inspiring person recently told me, “You are your friends..if they’re happy, you’re happy. If they’re sad, then you’re sad.” This statement gave me the perfect example to realize how attached to your friends you can become and it could possibly even show up negatively towards outsiders.

As you grow up, you mature and if you can figure our, somehow, that a person is not worth your time, then go with your gut and get out of that binding. An individual can be strong enough to stick to their own beliefs and be their own person. Fake friends are nobody, and as maturity takes its place, so will your reasoning on whether or not to be placed in their life.
