For this week, I would just like to bring back some of the biggest highlights of the 1980’s. To start off, this decade was when Madonna and Michael Jackson were considered one of the most successful and popular pop artists. I’m sure both icons were large inspirations to many fans. Madonna only sparked my interest for this post because of her mediocre performance at the Superbowl half time show on Sunday. Thousands of tweets and Facebook status’ claimed that it was the worst show ever. But in my own words, they usually do a decent job by grabbing viewers with interesting lighting effects, oh and M.I.A. flipping the bird…but that is besides the point. Back to the eighties, MTV streamed these artists frequently with their top music videos and it caused a big boom for the recording industry.

Our favorite alien landed in the movie screens during this time [the re-make that is], and personally, terrified me a little bit by his slow movements and creepy voice. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial made the highest grossing film of the decade in 1982 with an easy marketing and understandable concept overall. This heart warming kid tale was joined by several other forever-loving movies, ie. The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Dirty Dancing.
